One young fan dressed as Alfie for World Book Day

Alfie stars at World Book Day

One young fan dressed as Alfie for World Book DayThis young fan had “Alfie’s Story” bought for him last year by his grandparents.

His grandma wrote to me recently to tell me that, for the last few months, he has asked for the story almost every night as his bedtime read.  He also sleeps with the Alfie cat toy.

Grandma sent me this photo to show he had changed into Alfie cat for World Book Day.

And she ended her message by saying “Thank you for bringing the pleasure of reading to him”.

I’m sure you can imagine how delighted I was to read this lovely email.

    My talk to Starkholmes WI

Wednesday, 8th February found me spending a delightful evening speaking to the ladies of Starkholmes WI.  They were interested to hear how I became a writer of children’s picture books and were keen for me to read “Alfie’s Story” to them.  They must have enjoyed the evening, as I made several sales of “Alfie’s Story”,…

  • Reading Matters

What a delight to visit this gorgeous independent bookshop in Chapel-en-le-Frith the other day!  “Reading Matters” had long been on my list of places to go and had been recommended to me recently by several ladies at the High Peak Luncheon Club.  It was wonderful to meet the owners, Lyndsay and Sue, and to witness…

  • Alfie jets off to Oz

I was recently surprised to receive an email from Australia.  Turns out that a very lovely grandmother who lives over there was on holiday in the UK last year and bought “Alfie’s Story” and an Alfie soft toy cat to go with it.  Back in Oz, she gave them both to her grandson, Finn. What…

  • Arkwright the duck returns!

Arkwright the duck has been away on his travels – I think he calls it his “migration”.  I didn’t know ducks migrated, did you? Anyway, he’s not been around for over a year and has just returned from the other side of the world. He’s delighted to be back and so are we! …because you can now…
