High Peak Luncheon Club

16th March 2017

When I heard that the High Peak Luncheon Club had been set up originally by teachers and headteachers, you will understand that I was feeling a tad nervous on arrival at the Old Hall Hotel in Buxton last Thursday. However, there was no need; the 36 ladies and 3 gentlemen made me very welcome indeed. Needless to say, I was unable to tuck into all three courses of what appeared to be a delicious lunch, knowing that I had to give a talk afterwards.

Once again, my 35-minute talk about how Alfie’s Story, Fearless Flynn and Arkwright the Duck came into being was very well received.  I ended by reading Alfie’s Story and, had time allowed, I’m sure some of the group would have enjoyed hearing all three bedtime stories.
