Sue wins Children’s Author Award

Sue has just received the 2018 Award for Best Children’s Storybook Author of the Year from the publisher, Acquisition International, the UK arm of Global Media Ltd.

The organisation contacted her a while ago to say that someone had nominated her for one of their business excellence awards.  At that time, they simply wanted to know a few details about Sue’s business.  She completed a very simple questionnaire and agreed to allow researchers to look through her website.

Following this first stage, people voted for the nominees and the result was declared early in March.  The official announcement of all the excellence awards will be in late April, when details will be available on their website at https://www.acq-intl.com/2018-2018-business-excellence-awards

Sue wrote her first book, “Alfie’s Story” in 2011 and self-published in 2014. She has published three more books since, one in each of the succeeding years. All the marketing and promotion of her books has been down to her.  At the time of the award’s announcement, she had topped sales of 6800 books.

Sue’s reaction to the award?  She is of course delighted, though stresses that it was totally unexpected.  “Seven years ago, when I first started to scribble down a few lines of rhyming couplets,” she says, “I could never have believed, that it would lead to this.”

Sue recently went into a primary school in Sheffield for World Book Day.  At the end of the day, the headteacher asked her to leave a message for his pupils.  Sue’s message was:

“Believe in yourself: you’ll be surprised what you can achieve.”

This conviction has certainly worked for her!
